Commission on Disability

In Attendance: Bert Howe, Richard Martinelli, Amy Cook, Patrick Callahan, Roberta Platt, Melissa Newman (clerk)

Call to Order:  7:04

Correspondence: Patrick and Amy will be notified by the end of March to sign to renew their terms on the commission.  Chief of Police sent a letter in regards to the 911 disability indicator and updating the database.  Laura DiMattia from the COA sent a letter with information regarding “tax work off”. DPC (disability policy consortium) sent information explaining their mission of providing resources for people with disabilities.
Jeff Dougan forwarded information to be reviewed on the work being done by MOD. This commission would like to invite Jeff to one of our upcoming meetings.  An invitation will go out to him with those dates.
The Bellingham Master Plan was sent to all members and was open for review.
Building plans were received from the planning board.  The first set was for a shopping mall with changes to an exit ramp and there were questions about parking spaces.  The second set was in regards to eight houses being built on North Street.  Curb cuts, mailbox placement and sidewalk width were all a concern and will be checked.

Financial: the report was read and accepted. Vouchers were signed.
Richard made a motion to accept the February minutes, Amy seconded that motion.

Old/New Business: Patrick will speak to Denis Fraine to inquire about Article 20.05 and to see if it will be on May or Octobers’ warrant.  Bert was going to speak with Karen Jasinski about changing our website. Currently it states that our meeting place is at the town hall annex and he would like it to say town hall.  Bert also reported that are minutes have been posted.  The news article written by Melanie Graham was passed around for the members to read concerning the problem of increased misuse of handicapped parking spaces.
