Chief Financial Officer

The CFO position will serve under the administrative direction of the Town Administrator.  The CFO position will be the key financial liaison and advisor to the Finance Committee. The CFO will be responsible for financial and budget reporting to the applicable town and school personnel/officials. The CFO position will oversee three divisions/functions: Accounting, Collector/Treasurer and Assessment Administration.

Anticipated start date: July 1, 1018

Current Salary: $125,000 depending upon experience and qualifications

Council on Aging Director

The Town of Bellingham is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Council on Aging Director, this position reports directly to the Town Administrator.  The successful candidate will possess the leadership and vision to direct and manage all operations of the Town of Bellingham’s Council on Aging and Senior Center in order to meet the social, emotional, economic, and health needs of Bellingham’s senior population.

Responsibilities: Examples of duties include but are not limited to: general oversight of the Senior Center; develop and facilitate all programs; recruit, train, evaluate and supervise regular staff and volunteers; prepare and monitor the annual budget; develop grant proposals; coordinate transportation for residents; manage the day to day operations of the transportation program, Senior and Veteran Property Tax Work-off program, the Supportive Day program, and administer the CORI program.  

Serves as liaison to the Council on Aging and Bellingham Elder Service Group, informs the Council on Aging of departmental operations and advises on policy issues.  

The ideal candidate for this very visible position must possess outstanding leadership and communication skills, a proven record of establishing and attaining goals through collaboration and skilled management.

The ability to assess the ever changing needs of the constituent population is required. Working knowledge of the numerous community based elder services available to older residents and their caregivers is essential. The Director is responsible for supervision of a staff of full-time and part-time employees as well as numerous volunteer workers.

Minimum Qualifications: BA in Social Work or a related field; five to seven years of senior management experience in social services, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of facilities management, assuring safe and proper maintenance of the building and grounds is highly desirable. Experience in grant writing and administration as well as the ability to identify alternative funding sources, to include businesses and institutions.

Salary Range: $70,000 based on education and experience, and a generous benefits package.

The Finance Committee and Capital Improvement Committee are seeking a part-time clerk to attend all of their meetings.  Responsibilities of the position include:  required timely posting of meetings and agendas, taking/recording minutes, preparation of the Finance Committee Recommendation book for all Town Meetings, work closely with the Town Manager with regard to warrant articles, schedule all hearings with regard to the Town Meeting Warrant, work closely with the CFO regarding dissemination of documents pertaining to annual budget , pickup and distribute all mail, prepare bill vouchers, meet deadlines and other various duties.  The monthly stipend for this position is $318.  Meetings are scheduled on the 4th Monday of each month at 7pm, except during Town Meeting season, when the meetings are on the 4th Monday as well as additional Mondays as needed.

The candidate should have knowledge of, or become familiar with, the public records statute and open meeting law.  Successful candidate must be willing to review the Town Charter, General Bylaws and Zoning Bylaws, when needed. Requires detail oriented individual and good aptitude with numbers.

Job Title: Truck Driver / Operator / Unlicensed Pipefitter

The Town of Bellingham Department of Public Works is seeking qualified applicants to fill one open position.  Applicants should have experience with public works operations or construction.

This position is within the DPW American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) bargaining unit.  The hourly wage is $24.72 for fiscal year 2018 with overtime and benefits per AFSCME agreement click here

The work week / shift for the lowest seniority employees may include one weekend day (i.e. either Sunday thru Thursday or Monday thru Saturday).
