Bid Ad - Water Main Const & Street Reconst, Contract 2017-CSWM
The Bellingham DPW request that bids be submitted for Water Main Construction and Limited Street Reconstruction, Contract 2017-CSWM

Bids must be received by June 29, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the Office of the Bellingham Town Clerk, Bellingham Municipal Center, 10 Mechanic Street, Bellingham, MA 02019 at which time they will be opened and read aloud.

Work will include:
Furnishing and installing ~ 850 feet of 12” CLDI water pipe with a brook crossing
Earth Excavation of roadside shoulder ~ 5,950 CY
Landscaping of regraded shoulder ~3,400 SY (plantings and seeding)
Road excavation and reconstruction with Hot Mix Asphalt ~ 4,500 SY
Drainage swale construction
Erosion Control
Hot Mix Asphalt trench paving
Appurtenant work
Contract documents will be available after Noon June 7, 2017, at the DPW Office 26 Blackstone Street (open 7:00 am and 3:30 pm Monday through Friday).  There is no deposit required for bid documents picked up at the DPW office.  Bid documents will be mailed to prospective bidders for a prepaid fee of $25.00.  Available electronically by emailing a request to the DPW clerk:

All work and materials must comply with the latest editions of the Mass Department of Transportation (MassDOT) highway division formerly Mass Highway Department (MHD) standard specifications for highways and bridges.  

All firms submitting bids must be pre-qualify by the MASS DOT for:
Highway Construction $527,035.00
(Correction from Newspaper Ad which noted $120,000)

A 5% bid bond is required and must be submitted with the bids.  Contractor selected to perform work will be required to provide 100% payment and performance bonds.

Firms must be able to supply insurance certificates indicating coverage with general liability limits of $2,000,000, and automobile limits of $1,000,000.00 for each occurrence and aggregate and mandatory worker’s compensation insurance with a $500,000 limit of employers’ liability, and sign an indemnity agreement prior to award of work under this bid.

All labor performing work on this contract must be paid in accordance with the, Commonwealth of Massachusetts approved wage scales.  Certified payrolls must be provided to the town for all work performed.
