Back in 1989, a group of active Bellingham residents gathered to create a charitable organization to assist the elders in the town.~ The Elder Service Group was formed to institute fundraising activities, apply for grants, accept donations from interested parties, and collect dues.~ The Senior Center personnel are not allowed, by law, to raise funds.~ Therefore The Elder Service Group was created and registered with the Secretary of State as a non-profit organization.~ Together we run different activities for all the seniors of the Town of Bellingham.
~Our Board of directors consists of a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and four other members.~ We also have a Sunshine Lady who sends out get-well cards and sympathy cards to those in need.~ We meet the first Tuesday of each month at 1 PM, excluding July and August.~ Our meetings are open to all Senior Citizens of Bellingham.~ Each year in June, the Board is elected by the members for one-year terms.
~Also each year with the kindness of donations, dues, and your support, we are able to help others.~ Annual donations are made to the needy in town by helping with heating bills, electric bills or food certificates.~ Groups that are helped are “Loaves & Fishes” Food Pantry at St. Blaise Church, “St. Vincent de Paul” fuel fund, Tri-Valley Elder Services, and to the Town’s Police, Fire, and Department of Public Works.
The Town of Bellingham funds the C.O.A.~ The Elder Service Group depends on your dues and donations.~ Join today!~ For only $3.00 per person you can enjoy a year of great fun with new and old friends.~ Being a member also offers you membership into “B.J.’s Wholesale Club” for only $20.00.~ This is a savings to each member of $25.00.~ Forms may be requested at the Senior Center by leaving a note in the mail box near the front door for B.J.s membership and picked up at the front desk.
