Water Use Restrictions
Annual Water Use Restriction (May to October) No Watering 9 AM to 5 PM

State of Water Conservation
May 1, 2017
Effective Immediately

No Lawn or Garden Watering between the hours off 9 am to 5 pm

ALL DAYS

Watering lawns or gardens during the hottest part of the day is an inefficient use of water.  The evaporation rate is high during this part of the day; therefore, a gallon of water used equals less than a half gallon of water getting to the plant’s roots.

The 9-5 use restriction is a normal, annual restriction for Bellingham water customers.  It is driven in part by the MassDEP Water Withdrawal Permits; however, it also just makes good water conservation and money saving sense.

The DPW continuously monitors consumption, well outputs, and water tank levels.  We will institute more stringent use restrictions if necessary to maintain customer household pressure and fire fighting capabilities.
