Planning & Zoning Department

The Planning and Zoning Department administers short- and long-range planning efforts that seek to support balanced smart growth, promote economic development, and improve the quality of life for the residents of Bellingham. The Department provides support to the Planning Board and the Zoning Board of Appeals and provides technical review of all Subdivision, Development Plan, and land use Special Permit and Variance applications. The Department continually seeks to improve upon the Zoning Bylaws and Subdivision Regulations to foster sustainable, diverse development including the use of smart growth, low-impact development concepts.
