POSITION: Chef

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Chef for the Bellingham Council on Aging is responsible for the preparation of an array of meals to be served on-site to groups ranging in size from eight to eighty. A full scope of work is contained in the job description by clicking on the link /DocumentCenter/View/5220
The rate of pay shall be as follows: up to $23 per hour based on qualifications and experience. The maximum number of hours is set at 19.5 per week. The position is not eligible for benefits.
QUALIFICATIONS: High school Graduate or equivalent with three to five years of Quantity Food Production experience in an institutional cafeteria, school district cafeteria or restaurant kitchen. Certification as a Food Protection Manager/Servsafe Certification and Allergen Awareness.
The successful candidate must have the ability to read, understand and follow written and/or verbal instructions in English to review standardized recipes and complete production records, inventories, order guides and cleaning schedules. Ability to complete daily cash turnover sheets, production records, inventories, order guides, cleaning schedules and other required records. Must possess knowledge of sanitary methods, standards, safety and HAACP precautions applicable to commercial kitchens and equipment. Must be able to attend and successfully pass the Food Safety Certification Course and maintain said certification. Must be able to supervise volunteers as needed. Performs similar or related work as required.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Dishwasher for the Bellingham Council on Aging is responsible for maintaining the kitchen and dining areas in a clean and orderly condition. The position is responsible for washing, cleaning and sanitizing dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, pans and other equipment and for cleaning the floors and equipment in the kitchen areas. The rate of pay shall be $17 per hour. The maximum number of hours is set at 19.5 per week. The position is not eligible for benefits.
QUALIFICATIONS: High school Graduate or equivalent with three to five years experience in an institutional cafeteria or restaurant kitchen.
The successful candidate must have the ability to read, understand and follow written and/or verbal instructions in English to review and maintain a cleaning supply inventory and cleaning schedule. Must be familiar with or have the ability to learn to operate a commercial dishwasher and related equipment. Must possess the ability to lift fifty pounds without assistance and be able to stand on their feet for the duration of the shift to complete job duties. Must possess knowledge of sanitary and food safety practices applicable to a commercial kitchen. Must be able to obtain and maintain Serv Safe Food Handlers Certification. Performs similar or related work as required.
