Trail Spotlight - High Street Fields
Open Space Committee volunteers and town staff spent Sunday morning 10/19 at High Street Fields for some trail maintenance and park cleanup activities! We repainted the trail kiosk, put up some fresh signage and removed some trash from the trail and wooded sections of the park.
Shout out to the Eagle Scout - Sean Boddy - who originally put together the kiosk and trail markers! To locate the start of the 0.4 mile trail to the Charles River drive or walk between the softball fields (south) then follow the edge of the softball field to the right (west) where you will see the trail kiosk and walking trail starts here sign!
Please click the link below if you would like to be included on the email list for future cleanup activities
Volunteer Opportunities
- Assign primary responsibility for each action item to one department, board or committee. Generally, that will be one of the entities identified as responsible parties for the item, but in some cases (to be determined by the Committee), the Committee itself may be the most appropriate primary responsible party.
- Revise the action plan, if necessary, to reflect changing circumstances and new information.
- At least annually, report on the status of all action items (e.g., actions taken, progress towards completion) to the boards represented on the Committee and to the public.
- Produce a summary report for inclusion in the annual town report.
- With support as needed from Town staff, maintain a presence on the Town Web site with the current OSRP and status of the action plan, for viewing by the public.
- Coordinate activities of town departments, boards, committees, civic groups, and volunteers to implement the OSRP’s action plan.
What is the Open Space Action Plan?
An Open Space and Recreation Plan is a tool through which a community plans for the future of its conservation and recreation resources. OSRPs are formulated by a thorough public participation process and reflect the needs of its community members. The plans are reviewed and approved by the Commonwealth to ensure that they conform to the OSRP requirements. When a community has an approved OSRP, it becomes eligible for DCS grant programs for up to seven years.

A Draft of the 2025 OSRP was approved by the Selectboard to send to the State for final review and recommendations before its approval. Once approved the town will be eligible for state grant funding through 2032.
