Press Release - For Immediate Release
Bellingham Power Choice prices to move lower for the second time in two years
BELLINGHAM, MA. For the second time in two years, prices for Bellingham Power Choice, the Town’s group electricity buying program, will lower. Prices will change in December as a new, 12-month electricity supply contract with Gridwealth Electric takes effect. The new prices for each option in Bellingham Power Choice are as follows:
Power Choice Standard – Lowering from 13.95 ¢/kWh to 12.964 ¢/kWh. Most participants are enrolled in the Power Choice Standard option.
Power Choice Green – Lowering from 16.77 ¢/kWh to 15.774 ¢/kWh. The Power Choice Green option includes 100% renewable electricity from new renewable energy projects in our region (MA Class I RECs).
The new prices are fixed for 12 months from December 2025 to December 2026 meter reads. For an average residential electricity customer using 600 kWh/month, the new prices will create savings of nearly $6/month compared with current prices regardless of which option they are enrolled in.
These savings build on the Bellingham Power Choice track record of providing measurable value to the community. Since the program launched in 2017, participants have saved more than $5 million compared with National Grid’s and Eversource’s Basic Service prices. With the new prices in place, participants in the Power Choice Standard option will continue to save compared with National Grid’s current residential price of 15.484 ¢/kWh and commercial price of 14.411 ¢/kWh and compared with Eversource’s current residential price of 14.884 ¢/kWh and small business price of 15.150 ¢/kWh. National Grid’s and Eversource’s prices are fixed through January 31, 2026, so savings beyond that date cannot be guaranteed.
No action is required for current Bellingham Power Choice participants. Active program participants will be automatically enrolled into the new, lower price for their program option with their December 2025 meter read. The new program price will first appear on January 2026 electric bills. The electricity supplier will be listed as “Gridwealth-Bellingham Power Choice.” Participants are free to choose a different program option or leave the program before the contract with Gridwealth Electric takes effect, and at any time in the future, with no fee or penalty.
Tax-exempt account holders will need to submit tax-exemption documentation to Gridwealth Electric to retain their tax-exempt status in the program. This documentation must be submitted to Gridwealth Electric even if it was submitted previously to their electric utility or to another electricity supplier. Information about where to submit tax-exemption documentation is available at BellinghamPowerChoice.com.
To enroll, make changes to enrollment, or get more information, participants are encouraged to visit the program website at BellinghamPowerChoice.com or contact customer support with Bellingham’s program consultants at 844-241-8595.
