Road Construction Projects

or Planned Road Work

At this time, DPW has the following paving projects confirmed for 2024:

    • Mill & Pave: a pavement rehabilitation process that involves milling (removing) the surface layer of pavement to a predetermined depth and filling it with new or recycled Hot Mix Asphalt. It creates a smooth ride by eliminating tire ruts and other defects.
      • N Main Street: from the Town Center (train bridge @ plaza) to Hartford Ave.
    • Reconstruction: refers to removing all or a significant portion of the pavement material and replacing it with new or recycled materials. This may include full-depth reclamation, where the pavement surface is demolished in place and new pavement surface is applied. In addition, reconstruction may also include grinding up a portion of the pavement surface, recycling it and placing it back, and then adding a wearing surface, such as in cold in-place asphalt recycling. Reconstruction often includes widening or geometrical changes to the roadway profile.
      • Standish Road
      • Cedar Hill Road
    • Cape Seal: A cape seal is a thin surface treatment constructed by applying a slurry seal or microsurfacing to a newly constructed chip seal. It is designed to be an integrated system where the primary purpose of the slurry is to fill voids in the chip seal.
      • Bellwood Drive
      • David Road
      • Joyce Lane
      • Partridge Trail
      • Pheasant Hill Road
      • Pearl Street
      • Prospect Street
      • Saddleback Hill Road
      • Walter Morse Road

Hartford Ave Roadway Improvements I-495 to Arrowhead Road  (Color Conceptual Plan)

    • We have applied for a MassWorks Grant to fund the project.  We will likely hear if we got the grant in late September or October.  If we receive the grant, construction will look to start in the summer of 2024.  If we don't receive the grant, the construction start date will be at a future date.

      • Construction is nearly complete. There are some items to be completed by the contractors. The project is not finished
in that Loam and Seeding along the curb needs completion. Please use caution and have patience for any future follow up construction.
